Karnataka Solar Subsidy Matrix under PM Surya Ghar (2026)
In Karnataka, residential rooftop solar is heavily subsidized by the central government’s PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. The Karnataka state government does not offer an additional direct cash top-up for general urban consumers, relying entirely on the generous central CFA to drive adoption.
| System Capacity (kW) | Central CFA Subsidy Amount | Average Gross Cost in Karnataka | Your Net Upfront Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 kW | ₹30,000 | ₹50,000 - ₹55,000 | ₹20,000 - ₹25,000 |
| 2 kW | ₹60,000 | ₹1,00,000 - ₹1,10,000 | ₹40,000 - ₹50,000 |
| 3 kW | ₹78,000 (Maximum Cap) | ₹1,45,000 - ₹1,55,000 | ₹67,000 - ₹77,000 |
| 4 kW to 10 kW | ₹78,000 (Fixed Cap) | ₹1,85,000 - ₹4,40,000 | ₹1,07,000 - ₹3,62,000 |
Important Note on Group Housing (CGHS)
For large apartment complexes in Bangalore, RWAs can apply for group subsidies to power common areas (lifts, water pumps, lighting). The subsidy is provided at ₹18,000 per kW, up to a maximum of 500 kW per society.
The DCR Rule: ALMM Compliance
To successfully claim the ₹78,000 central subsidy via DBT in Karnataka, your empanelled vendor must use **Domestic Content Requirement (DCR)** compliant solar modules. This means the panels must be manufactured in India and listed on the MNRE’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM). Using imported panels disqualifies you from the scheme immediately.
