Documentation Checklist for Karnataka Solar Applications

BESCOM and other Karnataka DISCOMs are notoriously strict regarding document mismatch. A single spelling error between your bill and your Aadhaar can pause your application for weeks.

Core Document Checklist

Document Purpose & Requirements
Latest Electricity Bill Must be no older than 3 months. Verify the Account ID / RR Number and Sanctioned Load.
Aadhaar & PAN Card Name must exactly match the name on the electricity bill.
Property Ownership Proof Latest Property Tax receipt, Khata Certificate, or Sale Deed confirming you own the premises.
Cancelled Cheque Must be in the applicant's name for direct DBT subsidy transfer.

Handling Name Mismatches

If your house was inherited or the bill is still in the builder's name, you cannot apply for the subsidy under your name.

  • Recommended Route: Apply for a formal Name Transfer on the BESCOM portal. Once the bill reflects your name, apply for solar.
  • Temporary Route: Some sub-divisions may accept an Affidavit on ₹100 stamp paper declaring your legal right to the property, but this is at the discretion of the local AEE and often causes delays.
