Uttar Pradesh Solar Subsidy: Stacked Central & State Incentives

Uttar Pradesh is one of the few states in India that offers a **direct cash top-up subsidy** for residential rooftop solar systems, in addition to the central PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. This stacked subsidy makes solar highly affordable for UP homeowners.

Subsidy Breakdown (Central CFA + UPNEDA State Subsidy)

Capacity (kW) Central CFA Subsidy UP State Subsidy Total Stacked Subsidy
1 kW ₹30,000 ₹6,000 ₹36,000
2 kW ₹60,000 ₹12,000 ₹72,000
3 kW ₹78,000 (Cap) ₹15,000 (Cap) ₹93,000 (Maximum Cap)
4 kW to 10 kW ₹78,000 (Cap) ₹15,000 (Cap) ₹93,000 (Maximum Cap)

State Subsidy Eligibility Criteria (UPNEDA Rules)

The UPNEDA state subsidy of **₹6,000 per kW (capped at ₹15,000)** is subject to specific conditions:

  • Residential Use Only: Commercial, industrial, and institutional connections are not eligible for the state top-up.
  • Empanelled Installer: The system must be installed by a vendor empanelled with UPNEDA in UP.
  • Domestic Content Requirement (DCR): Panels must use Indian-manufactured solar cells and modules registered on the MNRE ALMM list.

How to Claim the Stacked Subsidies

The process for claiming both subsidies has been digitized and merged under the National Portal:

  1. Register on the National Portal using your UPPCL consumer details and regional DISCOM name (e.g. PVVNL).
  2. Submit technical feasibility. Once approved, install using an empanelled vendor.
  3. After physical installation and commissioning, UPPCL will verify the system and upload the commissioning details.
  4. Submit your bank account passbook or cancelled cheque. The central subsidy (up to ₹78,000) and the UPNEDA state subsidy (up to ₹15,000) are disbursed directly to your bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
