Gujarat DISCOM Portal Walkthrough (MGVCL, DGVCL, PGVCL)
Because Gujarat was an early adopter of the Surya Gujarat scheme, the local DISCOMs are highly efficient at processing solar applications. The entire process is now integrated with the national PM Surya Ghar portal.
Phase 1: Feasibility Application
The very first step is getting technical clearance from your local DISCOM sub-division.
- Registration: Visit the National PM Surya Ghar portal. Select your state (Gujarat) and your specific DISCOM (e.g., DGVCL for Surat, MGVCL for Vadodara, PGVCL for Rajkot).
- Enter Details: Input your consumer number (found on your electricity bill) and mobile number.
- Submit Request: Enter your desired solar capacity in kW. The portal routes this to your local Junior Engineer (JE).
- Approval: The JE verifies the transformer load. In Gujarat, feasibility approval is remarkably fast, often granted within 3 to 7 working days.
Phase 2: Installation and Inspection
Once you hold the Feasibility Certificate, you can proceed:
- Hire an Empanelled Vendor: Select a vendor registered in Gujarat. They will procure DCR-compliant ALMM panels and execute the installation.
- Submit Work Completion: The vendor uploads photos, panel serial numbers, and safety certificates to the portal.
- Joint Inspection: A DISCOM official visits your property to ensure the system is grounded properly and wired safely. They will sign the Joint Inspection Report (JIR).
Phase 3: Net Metering & Commissioning
Following a successful inspection, the DISCOM will replace your old meter with a new bi-directional net meter. Once the meter is sealed, they will upload the **Commissioning Certificate** to your portal dashboard, officially authorizing you to claim the PM Surya Ghar subsidy.
