Documentation Checklist for Gujarat Solar Applications
A smooth application process relies entirely on accurate paperwork. The Gujarat DISCOMs (MGVCL, DGVCL, PGVCL) are strict about data matching across your documents.
The Essential Paperwork
| Document | Purpose & Requirements |
|---|---|
| Latest Electricity Bill | Must be no more than 3 months old. Used to verify your Consumer Number and Sanctioned Load. |
| Aadhaar Card | Identity verification. The spelling of your name must match the electricity bill exactly. |
| Property Tax Receipt / Index-2 | Proof of ownership. Ensures the applicant has the legal right to install equipment on the roof. |
| Cancelled Cheque | Must be uploaded for the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) of the subsidy. The bank account must be in the name of the applicant. |
| Passport Size Photograph | For portal profile completion and offline forms if required by the local JE. |
Handling Name Mismatches
If the electricity bill is in the name of a builder, a previous owner, or a deceased family member, your subsidy application will be rejected. You must:
- Submit a name change application to your DISCOM before applying for solar.
- Alternatively, in cases of inheritance, an affidavit on stamp paper declaring legal heir status, along with a NOC from other heirs, may be temporarily accepted by the DISCOM, but updating the bill is always the safest route.
