Delhi DISCOM Portal Walkthrough (BSES & TPDDL)
Applying for solar in Delhi is streamlined through the National Portal but integrates tightly with the sophisticated IT systems of BSES (BRPL/BYPL) and Tata Power (TPDDL).
Step 1: Feasibility Clearance
Start by registering on the National PM Surya Ghar Portal using your 9-digit (BSES) or 11-digit (TPDDL) CA Number.
- Submit your required solar capacity.
- The DISCOM checks if your local transformer has sufficient capacity (cumulative solar cannot exceed 75-80% of transformer capacity).
- Feasibility is usually granted online within 7 working days.
Step 2: Installation
After feasibility, you contract an empanelled vendor. They install the DCR-compliant system and upload the technical specifications and Work Completion Report (WCR) to the portal.
Step 3: Joint Inspection & Metering
This is a critical phase in Delhi:
- A DISCOM engineer will visit your home to verify safety compliance (earthing, DCDB, ACDB, lightning arrestor).
- The Net Meter: TPDDL and BSES generally prefer to install their own tested bi-directional meters. You pay the meter cost to the DISCOM, and their team installs it.
- Once the meter is sealed, the system is commissioned and your portal is updated.
